"Gather them in": The Musical Treasures of W.T. Freemantle

A concert celebrating the musical collections of the Sheffield based organist and antiquarian W.T. Freemantle from the University of Leeds Special Collections.

Freemantle was a significant collector of the music of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and his circle.

This concert features a selection of Mendelssohn’s solo piano works, autograph manuscripts of which Freemantle owned, including a unique early sonata in B flat minor, and the Lied ohne Worte "Auf einer Gondel".

The Clothworkers Consort of Leeds, directed by Bryan White, will sing op 59, Six Songs for Mixed Choir, and Bach’s Kyrie from BWV 236. They will be joined by Dan Gordon and student soloists from the School of Music.

Location: Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall, School of Music, University of Leeds.
