William Morris, 1880

William Morris was a key figure in the Arts and Crafts Movement and founder of the celebrated Kelmscott Press.

As one of Britain’s most celebrated designers his 19th century designs are instantly recognisable. But there was more to Morris than wallpaper and curtains.

Morris was also a poet, craftsman, novelist and socialist activist. He championed the principle of handmade production and founded the short-lived Kelmscott Press in 1891.

Discover the books that inspired Morris and the politics that motivated him. Get up-close with some of the beautiful books printed by the Kelmscott Press, including its crowning jewel, "The Works of Geoffrey Chaucer".
