Make it Social: Artists' Books

Join Professor Chris Taylor in our latest Make It Social workshop for an opportunity to explore Artists' Books.

From sketchbooks to fine printed editions, the book for many artists and designers today has become their primary medium. This workshop is inspired by our exhibition “Lessons in the Studio: Studio in the Seminar” in which books are an underlying theme. You will have the opportunity to look at material from the University Library’s Special Collections: historical, contemporary and some extremely rare.

Professor Chris Taylor will then guide you through the steps necessary to produce a set of small booklets that introduce the workings of the book format, basic non-glue binding techniques and creative possibilities for you to take away.

This is a social event so includes time for tasty refreshments and a natter! Chris Taylor is Professor of Fine Art Practice in the School of Fine Art, History of Art & Cultural Studies, Co-editor of the Wild Pansy Press imprint, Director of PAGES and the International Contemporary Artists’ Book Fair.
