Get Creative: The Art of Writing

Feeling inspired? Try our creative poetry online workshop and explore the idea of home though the University’s Art Collection.

Join us and poet Suzannah Evans in this online workshop, where we will be using some of the artworks from the University of Leeds Art Collection to prompt your creative writing. The workshop is suitable for anyone who is curious, and at any level of writing experience.

Starting with the idea of home, the place where most of us have been for the past year, we’ll look closely at objects and scenery around us that we may take for granted, creating still lives, portraits and documenting our changing perspectives on the world through writing.

Suzannah Evans lives in Sheffield. Her pamphlet ‘Confusion Species’ was a winner in the 2012 Poetry Business Book and Pamphlet Competition and her debut collection ‘Near Future’ was published by Nine Arches Press in 2018. She was the winner of a Gladstone’s Library residency in October 2019 for ‘Near Future’, and her poem ‘Helpline’ has been Poem of the Week on The Guardian.

This event will be hosted online on Zoom. The joining link will be emailed to registered attendees one day before the start time.
