Public Art Trail: Part III

Explore our entire collection of Public Art across three walks around the University of Leeds campus this Summer.

In a series of three walks over June, July and August we’ll follow routes that together will cover all the artworks on the Public Art Trail. Each walk will stand alone, so you can do one, two, or all three!

For the final walk of the series, join us for a lunchtime stroll to enjoy a breath of fresh air, stretch your legs, and take in the sights on a route around some of the sculptures on the University of Leeds campus. Hear stories behind the artworks, revisit familiar favourites and discover hidden gems.

We will be on our feet in the open air for approximately 60 minutes, come rain or shine, though it is fine if you need to leave early! We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bringing a drink, and sun cream or an umbrella depending on the weather! Please contact us in advance if your mobility is limited so we can plan the route accordingly.

Access Information

Getting Here

  • The meeting point for this event is in The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, in Parkinson Building. There is step-free access – see our Visit information for more details.

  • The Public Art Walk can be made step-free: please contact us at gallery@leeds.ac.uk if you would like a step-free route.

Sensory

  • The walk takes place on the University of Leeds campus, which can be loud and busy with crowds.

  • We will be outside, meaning we may be walking in warm or cold weather with bright sun, rain and wind.

  • You are welcome to borrow anything you like from the ACCESSories Hub in The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery during the walk. Please remember to return the items before you leave.

In the Room

  • In The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery there are artworks on the walls, and some sculptures on plinths or freestanding in the middle of the floor.

  • The rest of the walk is outside on campus, where we will stop by sculptures near the paths.

  • We will use proper crossing points for any road crossings.

What to Expect

  • We will begin with a short introduction in the gallery.

  • The walk leader will take you to different artworks, saying a little about them. You will be able to ask questions.

  • The distances between artworks varies. Sometimes there will be a few minutes of walking between sculptures. The longest walk time may be around 6 minutes.

  • At the end of the walk, the leader will collect any ACCESSories Hub tools you have borrowed. They can show you back to the gallery where the walk started.
