Landscapes of the Body

Join local dance artist Gerry Turvey to playfully explore and respond to the public art sculptures on the University campus.

Discover your inner and outer landscapes and create playful dances with others.

This dance workshop will take the form of a guided walk along the Public Art Trail, and you will use movement to respond to some of the artworks.

Movers, artists and curious explorers of all levels are invited to take part in the workshop. There will be guided exercises, drawing and writing.

There will also be open-ended tasks that will inspire group and individual pieces of choreography with the sculptures on the trail. Come with an open mind, a willing body, good shoes and bendy clothing. And be prepared to be surprised!

Gerry Turvey trained as a visual artist, and now works as a choreographer and educator.

She creates performances in public spaces and is passionate about collaborating with other artists. Her work concerns community and culture. She brings people together to share positive physical experiences.

Please note that this session will be taking place outside. We advise people to dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and to bring sun protection and water.

Suitable for ages 18+
