Make It Social: Block Print Brutalism

Try your hand at block printing, stenciling, frottage and collage in this creative workshop led by artist and Galleries friend Vincent James

This artist-led workshop will explore form, pattern and texture, taking inspiration from our current exhibition Another Brick in the Wall. Using a range of materials and techniques, including simple block printing, stenciling, frottage and collage, you will be guided to create a series of works influenced by the Brutalist architecture on display.

The workshop is a chance to learn some new creative skills, meet like-minded people, and work collaboratively to produce a large-scale architectural composition of a cityscape from your own Brutalist creations. Plus, there will be refreshments!

This workshop is suitable for all abilities, and all materials are provided.

Another Brick in the Wall, guest curated by renowned architectural photographer Simon Phipps and independent writer and researcher Darren Umney, examines the postwar development of UK University campuses through contemporary photography and archival materials. There will be an opportunity to explore the exhibition during the session.
