Medieval Highlights from Leeds University Library Special Collections
- Date: Wednesday 4 July 2018, 12:00 – 14:00
- Location: Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery
- Cost: Free, drop-in activity
As part of the International Medieval Congress 2018, join us for a drop-in session to see medieval treasures from Special Collections.
Special Collections contains many beautiful illuminated 15th century French, Flemish and Italian books of hours, psalters, and prayer books. The finest of these will be on show alongside examples from our superb collection of incunabula. Be sure not to miss the German chained manuscripts!
There is local interest too. A 13th-century Latin bible from the Library of Ripon Cathedral and court rolls from the Yorkshire Archaeological and Historical Society collection will also make an appearance. For the first time at the International Medieval Congress, we will also be revealing a selection of coins from our extensive collections.
The International Medieval Congress is organised and administered by the Institute for Medieval Studies. Since it began in 1994, the Congress has established itself as an annual event attracting medievalists from all over the world. It is the largest conference of its kind in Europe.
We’re delighted to contribute to the wide range of public events for everyone to enjoy at the International Medieval Congress
This event is free and open to all.
