Description

This Babylonian clay cuneiform tablet, or brick book, from Ur of the Chaldees in the Middle East is a receipt for barley.

A typed label accompanies this object, referencing the date as being of the dynasty of Agade (2500-2400 BCE).

The tablet was housed at one time in a brown leather jewellery box. The lining of the box is inscribed James R Ogden & Sons Ltd, Pearl & Diamond Experts, Harrogate and at 41, Duke St. Piccadilly, London, S.W.1.
