Features
On the first blank leaf (a1r) a title has been supplied in red ink manuscript along with a drawing of the face of Christ with the Crown of Thorns in black ink.
Major intials supplied in red on l5v, with decoration extending into the margin.
Major initial on p3r supplied and decorated in red.
Capital strokes and paragraph markers supplied in red from a2r to a8v and l5v to l7r.
Bindings
Binding of quarter pigskin and brown paper over pasteboard. The spine has four raised bands. In the second and third panels are black pared leather lettering pieces told-tooled with borders of fillets and containing the words: Stuchsii Mamotr. in S. Scriptur. The leaf edges are sprinkled red. Size: 185 x 148mm. Leaf size: 176 x 137mm.
Provenance
Small blue and white armorial bookplate of Lord Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired after 17 June 1929 when Sir Edward Allen Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
