Contains Nicholas Saunderson's lectures on various mathematical, physical, and technical topics, probably written up about the date of his death.


Written in a single neat eighteenth-century hand and paginated throughout the main text. Bound in the original brown leather with decorated and panelled blind tooling on both outside covers, but repaired in recent years.

Biography or history

Nicholas Saunderson (1682-1739), although blind from infancy, became professor of mathematics at Cambridge University during Queen Anne's reign and wrote several books on his subject. For fuller details of his life and writings see the Dictionary of National Biography.
