Description

Comprises the autograph manuscript notebook of William Boyd in which he drafted his short story entitled 'Alpes maritimes', dated 'Tuesday. 16. Oct. 1984.' at the beginning, followed by notes written for the film scripts of 'The ice cream war' and 'Stars and bars', the latter extending over most of the later section of the notebook with its own foliation. The accompanying autograph manuscript letter was written from William Boyd in London to Josephine Pullein-Thompson on 18 September 1987 concerning the notebook and its sale at auction.

There are two subsequences of foliation within the volume, but many folios are unnumbered. The notebook is ringbinder form. The text is written mainly in pencil, but red and black ink is used on a few pages.
