Description
Comprises a typescript of Siegfried Sassoon's radio broadcast 'A Tribute to Sir Max Beerbohm', recorded in Heytesbury on 28th June 1956, for Home Service transmission, and produced by Douglas Cleverdon. The typescript is initialled and dated at the end 'JDS 29.6.56'.
There is a caricature of a face drawn in blue ink below the title on the title-page.
Additional item added October 2017: a copy of Sassoon's 'An Octave' in a green slipcase [limited private press edition: copy no. 130 of 350 copies printed by Shewal Press on 8 Sep 1966] in which is pasted a letter to Mr E Lindley from Siegfried Sassoon [letter dated 8 Feb 1967], and an invitation card to Sassoon's memorial service [11 Oct 1967]. Also contains loose press cuttings with obituaries of Sassoon, and a letter from Marguerite Sassoon [Sassoon's daughter-in-law] thanking Lindley for a letter of condolence following Sassoon's death [letter dated 15 Sep 1967].
