Features

Bound at the front of the book are three leaves comprising a table in black ink manuscript, probably late fifteenth-century.

Very occasional marginal annotations and underlinings in black ink manuscript.

Two numbers are written at the top left-hand corner of the front pastedown. In black ink manuscript: 389. In red pencil manuscript: 620.

Written in black ink manuscript at the head of the front pastedown are notes giving details of the edition.

The major initial on the first leaf of printed text is supplied in green and gold against a red and gold background with decoration of stylised foliage in red, green and purple extending along the inner margin. The bottom margin is decorated in a smiliar style with stylised foliage in green, red and purple, with a coat of arms at the centre featuring a shield in blue, black and red upon which is a gold helm with a grey coronet. Above is a moor's head with red eyes and lips, a beard and plaited hair wearing a hat, and the whole coat of arms is surrounded by stylised foliage in black and gold. The arms bear a resemblance to those associated with Hartmann Schedel (1440-1514).

At the top right of the first leaf of printed text is an illustration in black ink featuring a helm on a decorated plinth surrounded by stylised foliage.

Major initials supplied and decorated alternately in red and blue throughout.

Paragraph markers supplied in red and blue.

Capital strokes supplied in red.

Leaf numbers have been supplied in Roman numerals in red ink manuscript at the top left of versos, now mostly cropped.

This copy is missing the first and last blank leaves.

Some water damage.

Binding of quarter white vellum and marbled paper over pasteboard. The marbled paper features the comb pattern in red, blue and cream, now much worn.
