Note: Thanks given for dedication of "your volume" to himself; sends prospectus of "Lives of the Laureates": "I think it may influence you as to the publication of your own"; expresses compliments (in 3rd person); thanks for photograph of Edwin Waugh, grants permission to include "Gardener's Daughter" in collection but adds that permission must also be obtained from Messrs. Strahan; requests that ... (the description has been erased) be sent to another and discusses terms for the taking of a house (n.d. but it is suggested that this is a reference to Farringford which was taken in 1853).
