Wilkes, Alpheus1
Nussey, Ellen1

Sender: Wilkes, Alpheus

Recipient: Nussey, Ellen

Letters: 5

Date(s): 2 Nov 1878 - 2 Jun 1882

Location: BC MS 19c Bronte C13, nos.60-64 in volume lettered "The Correspondents to Miss E. Nussey Relating to Charlotte Brontë"

Note: Thanks her for information supplied on her friendship with Charlotte Brontë. Can she supply information on Roehead School and its teachers: what was Branwell doing when Charlotte was teaching there? Sending her section of his MS on the Brontë's; disappointed in her reactions. June 1882 - much hurt by her accusations: he has returned every letter she lent him, and only retains a few pencil sketches. Reminds her that she told him at the time some letters in print were no longer in her possession, having been taken without her consent. Typed transcripts: originals at Brontë Parsonage Museum.
