Location: BC MS 19c Bronte C13, nos.83-92 in volume lettered "The Correspondents to Miss E. Nussey Relating to Charlotte Brontë"

Category: 19c2 Female

Note: Requesting information on Emily Brontë, whose life she is writing. Thanks her for offer to correct MS. On Patrick and Emily Brontë: is Shirley a likeness of her, and in real life was she dependent on Charlotte? Thanks her for information and will see her in Haworth. Her book on Emily Brontë is a great success. Sorry Miss Nussey is disappointed in her book, but unfavourable portrait of Branwell Brontë necessary. Agrees to delete clues to Mrs Scott's identity; Emily would not have written a book like "Wuthering Heights" without Branwell as a brother. Sends her a copy of her book on Emily Brontë. Sends her reviews of it. Sorry Miss Nussey is distressed by Mr Leyland's writings on Branwell Brontë, of whom he had no personal knowledge. Typed transcripts: originals at Brontë Parsonage Museum. Letter no.85 lacks first page.
