Quartz

Figure 14a. Summary: WHB's data for quartz, p71 in the notebook

The data for quartz occupy pp59 - 73 and 76 - 77 of the notebook, all in WHB's neat handwriting. The observed and calculated ionization chamber (2θ) values for reflections from different crystal faces are summarised in a small table in the lower right hand corner of page 71.

This tabulated data is reproduced on p580 in WHB's paper on the, X-ray Spectra given by Crystals of Sulphur and Quartz(17), except (i) the 2θ angles are replaced by θ angles and (ii) a different nomenclature is used to describe the planes. The sequence of results is unchanged.
