Flying Start for first year undergraduates

Our Flying Start resource has been designed to help you understand what studying at university really means. To work alongside, we have developed a series of short workshops for you to attend, to help ease your transition to university. Some of the sessions will be face-to-face and some will be online. Once you’ve expressed your interest by completing our short online form, details of what to expect when attending or how to join online, will be sent to you via email near to the event date.

Our programme will cover: referencing; time management; lectures; reading; and maths.

Step Up To Masters

Our Step Up to Masters resource will help you to explore the academic experience and expectations at the University of Leeds, improve your academic skills, and make a successful leap to studying at Masters level. We’ve also designed a programme of short workshops to help ease you into your Masters degree at Leeds. Some of the sessions will be face-to-face and some will be online. Once you’ve expressed your interest by completing our short online form, details of what to expect when attending or how to join online, will be sent to you via email near to the event date.

Our programme will cover: academic reading; developing confidence; group working; maths and statistics strategies; and developing your academic voice.

Skills@Library workshop programme 2021/22

The first batch workshops are now available to book online. This includes a mixture of face-to-face and online sessions. Please take care when completing our booking form, selecting your current level of study, ie ‘Taught postgraduate (Masters)’ if you are completing a Masters level degree. Once you’ve booked onto a session, details of what to expect in a face-to-face session and how to join our online sessions will be sent via email near to the event date.

If you are a taught Masters student, you could book onto a "Shut up and write!" session to boost your productivity. These do not involve any teaching but offer a framework and supportive environment for you to focus on your own work. If you have any queries about this session please contact the Research Support Team.

Masters research project workshops for January starters

If you started your Masters at Leeds in January 2021, we have a programme of online workshops that are aimed to help you complete the writing of your research project.

Please take care when completing our booking form, selecting your current level of study, ie ‘Taught postgraduate (Masters)’ if you are completing a Masters level degree. 
Once you have booked a place, details of how to join will be sent via email the day before each session. Video recordings will also be sent out to participants, up to 1 week after the session has taken place
