Brotherton Library
See the spectacular round reading room, the wood-panelled original Brotherton Room and the modern study space in the West Building.
Round reading room
The Brotherton's round, domed reading room was modelled on that of the British Museum but, with Yorkshire bravura, a slightly increased diameter ensured that it was larger than the southern original.

The Brotherton Room is in the Special Collections Research Centre. The home of 100,000s of rare books, manuscripts, archives and art, it's a rich resource for staff, students and the wider community.

Our largest library, with over 2,000 study spaces for groups and individuals, and home to the level 13 Research Hub for staff and postgraduates.

The Laidlaw Library supports modern ways of learning, with a variety of study spaces, core textbooks and a cafe. This library is also home to our award-winning Skills@Library service in the Skills Zone.
