Get ready for assessments and exams with your Libraries

Everything you need to revise... and where to find it.

Whether you’re planning your assessment journey, knee-deep in notes or about to walk into your exam, the Library is with you every step of the way.

Planning

Having a plan is the key to success. Our revision and exam page has everything you need to create an effective study strategy, from perfecting your revision techniques and getting mentally prepared for the big day, to how to approach timed writing.

We also have a unique Discovery Collection of eight essential texts for planning revision, taking on exams, managing time and dealing with stress.

And if you have an Online Time Limited Assessment, we have advice on making your environment as comfortable as possible and getting the most out of your texts so you can delve deeper into critical writing.

And since practice makes perfect, For Students has information on finding past papers, as well as technical advice on clarifications, accessibility and much more.

In person support

If you like more focused support with revision, look no further than our Skills@Library one-to-one support. Book a session with our learning advisors to get help with academic, maths and stats, writing or digital skills.

The Writing Space is returning to Laidlaw Library in the run up to assessments. Why not drop by from 22 April–10 May for peer-to-peer support to polish your writing prowess.

And if you have any great revision tips, or just want to tell the world how you’re feeling, whiteboards will be up in all libraries for you to leave messages and advice for your peers.

Keep an eye on our Instagram for more tips and support. If you need any help with anything, just ask one of our friendly customer service team members at the desks.

Getting Busy

The closer assessments get, the busier that libraries become. Make sure you can find your perfect spot with Spacefinder. It lists every study location on campus and lets you filter them by preference.

You can also book group study space to ensure your revision group has the space to work together. Book early as these rooms go fast.

Laidlaw Library will be open 24 hours throughout the assessment period. And to meet the extra demand for space we are opening an additional study area on floor one of the Laidlaw Library. Check out our opening hours for more information about other locations.

Remember to take breaks

If you need a break from revision, your University email gives you free access to the BFI Player and Kanopy streaming service. Simply sign in to relax and unwind with the world’s best cinema.

Our beautiful, award-winning Galleries are running Write and Sketch clubs on Wednesday afternoons so you can get your creative juices flowing and take a break from the books.

And keep your eyes open for the big purple chairs in our Pause spaces. Here you’ll find various wellbeing activities to help you reset, refocus and recharge. You can also check out our Spotify wellbeing playlist and wellbeing reading lists for more mental health management.

Last minute

Our 10 tips to make it through the day has great advice on how to make your assessments go as smoothly as possible. And if things beyond your control go wrong, the Mitigating Circumstance page has all the guidance you need to make things right again.

Good luck and all the best!
