Warm welcome to Brotherton fellows
New fellows will dig into Special Collections over four weeks to prepare post-doc research applications.
The fellowships were awarded to Pushpa Kumbhatand Natalya Din-Kariuki who will begin their projects in April and July, respectively.
Natalya Din-Kariuki's project will use the Brotherton Collection's extensive collection of travel diaries, journals, logbooks and letters to investigate seventeenth century travel writings. Pushpa Kumbhat will be exploring adult education in the era of post-First World War reconstruction by making use of the University Archive for their research project.
Both fellows will write a report on their research which will form the basis of a larger funding submission for externally-funded post-doctoral positions. The reports will be available to read on the Library blog.
The fellowships scheme is currently in its fourth year and runs annually. It offers two individual early-career researchers the chance to develop a research application to attempt to secure further funding in their chosen area. Further information regarding the fellowships can be found on the Leeds Arts and Humanities Research Institute website.
