Refurbished West Building now open
With brand new powered desks, user-controlled lighting and more power sockets – the all-new West Building is the latest modern study area on campus.
Phase two of refurbishment work was completed over the Christmas break, meaning the Brotherton’s West Building now boasts a thoroughly contemporary study environment.
In addition to the study pods and community study area, there are now 53 new study spaces with access to power sockets, individual lighting control and USB plugs. These include four height-adjustable desks for wheelchair users or those who need to stand.
Also newly installed are 28 bench spaces around the perimeter, along with 61 seats in the IT cluster area with socket access and recently upgraded desktops.
Check the Library opening times to see when you can start plugging in to this new study space.
The first phase of refurbishment was completed over the summer break and included all-new carpet, upgraded desktop PCs in the cluster area and the installation of individual study pods.
Further work will take place from June and will focus on the area between the West Building and the Brotherton level three round reading room.
