Illuminated Medieval manuscripts on display

Come and visit Pleasure in Illuminated Manuscripts - the latest special display at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery. It's a pleasure and a chance to see rare manuscript treasures collected by Lord Brotherton of Wakefield (1856-1930).

These beautifully illuminated medieval manuscripts are showcased in the gallery's Education Room.

Each piece is a fine example of manuscript painting from Europe focusing on pleasure - which is the central theme of the annual International Medieval Congress held at the University of Leeds (1 - 4 July 2013). The exhibition anticipates the curator Katja Monier's forthcoming publication "Illuminated Manuscripts Collected by Lord Brotherton of Wakefield."

The medieval manuscripts display runs from 1 July - 31 July 2013. Or if you want to prolong the pleasure you can digitally browse or search other images of medieval manuscripts

See the gallery website for visiting details and opening hours.
