Sir William Rothenstein

Sir William Rothenstein was born in Bradford, the son of recent immigrants from Germany. He was Principal of the Royal College of Art from 1920 to 1935, and a Trustee of the Tate Gallery from 1927 to 1933. He was knighted in 1931.
