10 Political cartoons, Yorkshire, 1860s

Interesting items in our Yorkshire Collections cover 19th century developments in politics and parliamentary democracy in Britain, including the speeches of many national and local politicians. We have examples of Luddite letters send to landowners and pamphlets calling for parliamentary reform as well as letters reporting on Chartist activities. There are several sets of 19th century political cartoons illustrating both parliamentary and local elections in Bradford, Halifax, Leeds and Sheffield, as well as for rural constituencies across west and south Yorkshire.
