Henry White

Henry White was born in London in 1821 or 1822. He was a prosperous merchant in London and also served as a Justice of the Peace and as Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Middlesex. He was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. He married Eleanor d’Ouchy, who was Swiss, and they had three sons, one of whom (Cecil Henry Holden White) played briefly in the English national football team in 1888.

Henry died in 1900 aged 78. During April and May 1902 his extensive library was sold at auction by Sotheby’s.
