Johann Valentin Hoeglein

Johann Valentin Hoeglein was qualified in both civil and ecclesiastical law and served as counsellor in both the imperial and local courts at Mainz.  He also sat as an assistant judge. He seems to have studied at Wurzburg where in 1717 he defended a thesis on jurisdiction in civil law.

He came from Mainz, where the Hoeglein family were prominent in academic and legal circles.  He is most likely the same Johann Valentin Hoeglein who was born there in 1695 to Johann Ambrosius Hoeglein and Eva Sabina Hornigh.  It is also plausible to identify him with the Hoeglein married to Maria Elisabeth Bentzel whose daughter, Maria Ursula Antonia, was born in 1724.

Hoeglein probably died in Mainz in 1726.
