Search the Art Collection
View details of most of our works of art (almost 3,000 items) by browsing and searching the collections. Over a thousand of the items already have images, and we regularly add more.
The best way to find works is by searching for the artist’s full name or the title of the art work.
About the Art Collection
The Collection consists mainly of European, and principally British, paintings, drawings and prints from the 17th century up to the present day, with small collections of sculpture, ceramics, and photographs.
Outstanding elements are:
- the Sadler Gift of early 20th century British art
- the collections of drawings and paintings by artists of the Camden Town and Bloomsbury groups, as well as their contemporaries
- works by former Gregory Fellows in Painting and Sculpture.
Throughout its history, the University has collected and commissioned works of art that reflect and support its scholarly and educational roles.
The consistent quality of the art collection, unusual for a British university, owes much to the vision of generous individuals and groups, all united by a conviction that life is enriched by an understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts.
