My case study was called ‘Leeds Theatres Past and Present: How has the theatrical heritage of Leeds influenced the current landscape of theatre in the city?’ and one of the sources most useful in exploring this was the TIE brochures sent to schools. They provided an interesting insight into the target audience for different theatre projects and the varying plays the TIE would be offering schools. This helped answer my research question as the brochures gave me detailed information on schools the different plays were aimed at, meaning I could see the sphere of influence the TIE had. The archive also had plenty of information on the different plays performed by TIE. I chose to focus on Accident of Birth, which allowed me to give my case study a detailed example of a TIE play.

My question did not change after looking at the material, but the material in the archive did shape my entire West Yorkshire Playhouse case study, and I couldn’t have written it with the same depth and detail without the archive.
