Profile

I have 15 years’ experience teaching data literacy to students across the university. My first appointment at the University of Leeds was as a Lecturer in Physical Geography. One of my initial tasks was to help improve undergraduate students’ data skills. I then moved on to extending my teaching to postgraduate students, as well supervising PhD students undertaking quantitative methods research. Following various teaching and research roles in the School of Geography for 10 years, I took up my current position in 2019. As part of my current role, I support taught students from across the university working with quantitative methods. The support is offered on a 1-1 basis, running workshops and developing online resources. I also work with module managers to develop and deliver teaching across schools such as Dentistry and Medicine, School of Earth and Environment and the Business School. I am keen to embed sustainability into my co-curricula teaching and I am currently part of a project aiming to establish a sustainability dataset repository for staff/student use

Responsibilities

Co-lead for the Maths & Statistics Support Service offered by the university library
Delivering teaching on data literacy to taught students across the university
