Oliver Neto

Profile

I am the Learning Development advisor for the School of Languages, Cultures, and Societies (LCS), where I lead our team’s strategic embedding of academic literacies in the BA and MA programmes of LCS, in collaboration with academic colleagues from relevant programmes, modules and the Language Centre.

Additionally, I provide academic literacy consultations to students through embedded teaching, co-curricular teaching, and one-on-one tutorials, both in-person and online.

After obtaining my PhD in ENglish Literature, I worked right across the UK education system – from running postgraduate seminars on James Joyce’s Ulysses to teaching six-year-olds to sing in Spanish. Most of my experience, however, lies in secondary education, where I was an English teacher for seve years, and as an undergraduate lecturer and tutor. My range of experiences has helped me to develop a thoughtful, patient, and student-centred approach to my practice.
