Profile

I am the Learning Development liaison contact for the Schools of Dentistry, Healthcare and Psychology  where I lead our team’s strategic embedding of academic literacies in the undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes in these Schools, in collaboration with academic colleagues from relevant programmes, modules and the Language Centre.

Additionally, I provide academic literacy development consultations to students through embedded teaching, co-curricular teaching, and one-on-one tutorials, both in-person and online. I also lead the Skills Book Collection Group which is responsible for the developing and overseeing the Library’s print and online collection of skills resources to support both students and staff.

I am a committed and experienced academic learning developer and qualified librarian. My achievements include:

  • Representing the Library on the White Rose Libraries Open Educational Resource (OER) Project (2022-2023), collaborating with colleagues from the Universities of Sheffield and York to produce guidance in the form a toolkit for academic colleagues and library staff on OER.

  • I worked as the Library’s lead on the FutureLearn MOOC ‘Skills to Succeed at University’ (2021-2022). This resource is designed to help students to gain the skills needed for a smooth transition to higher education whether they have completed a BTEC, A levels, or are a mature student.
