Jill Winder
- Position: Associate Curator: Textiles and Object Collections
- Areas of expertise: Textiles curation and exhibition; design history
- Website: International Textile Collection
Profile
My role is predominantly managing all aspects of the International Textile Collection, including cataloguing, research, answering enquiries and curating regular exhibitions.
Beyond textiles, I look at improving the visibility of other 'museum objects' in the wider Cultural Collections through enhanced descriptive cataloguing. I also administer museum loans.
For 12 years (2008 - 2019) I managed the University of Leeds International Textiles Archive, known as ULITA (School of Design), an archive with a temporary display space on Western Campus. It became part of Cultural Collections in 2019, now known as the International Textile Collection. I curated or co-curated the exhibitions during this period, showcasing aspects of the collection. I am particularly interested in the provenance of different parts of the collection and how they came to be brought together.
Previously I was Assistant Site Manager in Special Collections (2001 to 2008), managing the research centre operations.
