Get to grips with the new UKRI policy
The White Rose Libraries of York, Sheffield and Leeds are pleased to welcome UKRI’s Rachel Bruce who will guide us through the new policy.
Join us at Keep your options open: understanding the new UKRI open access policy for an explanation of the new UKRI open access policy featuring Rachel Bruce, Head of Open Science at UKRI, along with the chance to ask your questions about the impact of the policy.
The event will take place online at 10am on Friday 20 May and is open to researchers from White Rose institutions.
The new policy came into effect on 1 April 2022 and is significantly different from the previous policy, with a requirement that journal articles are made immediately open access, the addition of a 'rights retention' element and restrictions on what UKRI will pay for.
The event will be introduced by University of Leeds Librarian and Keeper of the Brotherton Collection Masud Khokhar who will set the context for the discussion, and highlight work across the White Rose Libraries towards open access, open data, open and reproducible research and responsible metrics.
Rachel will also discuss UKRI's commitment to the broader concepts of open science, research and scholarship through policy, practice and technological innovations to encompass the entire research process, to make all aspects of the research cycle accessible.
