FUAM Art Prize returns to the Galleries
After two years of online exhibitions, this year’s showcase will be returning to The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery this August to celebrate the freshest artistic talent in Leeds.
The prize rewards the artistic excellence of art and design students at the University of Leeds. Supported by the Friends of University Art & Music (FUAM), with an exhibition highlighting the works of four finalists set to return to The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery with a special preview event on Tuesday 16 August 2022. The exhibition will open to all on Wednesday 17 August.
Alongside the in-gallery exhibition, the finalist’s work will also feature in a special online exhibition that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home.
The four budding artists have been selected by an expert panel of judges the degree shows at the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies and School of Design and will display their work in the exhibition which marks ten years of the FUAM Graduate Art Prize.

Astrid Butt (BA Fine Art)
Suman Shams (BA Fine Art)
The judging panel includes Professor Jeff Grabill (Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Student Education, University of Leeds), Marianna Tsionki (Curator, Leeds Arts University), Karen Watson (Artistic Director, East Street Arts) who will return in October to select the overall winner of the FUAM Graduate Art Prize.
The 'Best in Show' graduating student artist of the year will receive £250. Each of the runners-up will receive £100 to aid them in their developing career as artists. The prizes will be awarded by FUAM in an awards ceremony on 19 October 2022.
