Lock in on exam revision
Study space, expert support and how to recharge during exams.
We’ve already put together an assessment and exams guide to help you plan your revision, essays and exam day, but here are even more resources for you to use to make the most of library spaces and support.
Where, when and how to get your revision space
Use Spacefinder to unlock your ideal study space. This handy tool has live occupancy data, as well as adjustable criteria so you can find the perfect place to study. Want to find a quiet space, with historic vibes, that’s close to coffee? That’s no problem for Spacefinder (hint: check out the Brotherton reading room).
If you prefer to take on revision with friends, you might want to book group study space to ensure everyone in your group can get their space, share ideas and get through this together.
There are several bank holidays in May, but all our Libraries will be open as usual, so you will still have access to library resources and a space to study. Check out the Library opening hours for more details on when and where you can study.
The library is for everyone, so please put your rubbish in the bins, respect the silent study space and return any books at the end of a study session.
And please don’t leave your stuff to claim a space. It prevents others from studying and risks being stolen!
Extra help: online and in person
Our revision and exam pages are packed with useful advice and tools you can use over the assessment period, but if you need more in-depth advice, take a look at our Study Skills featured collection. It lists dozens of titles to explore that will refine and specialise your revision skill set.
You can also get in touch with our Customer Services team through webchat if you have any questions. They will do their best to solve any queries about items, equipment and facilities.
If you prefer face-to-face support one-to-one sessions in academic skills, digital learning and more are also available. And the Writing Space will be back from Monday 27 April to Friday 8 May. Just drop in any weekday afternoon 1–4pm, and you can get advice and support for your academic writing. Our writing mentors are here to get you motivated, smash writer's block and overcome isolation!
Hit pause and take a break
It’s important to refresh, take a breather and give your brain a rest. It can even be helpful to give yourself little rewards for achieving study milestones.
Your University email gives you free access to BFI Player and Kanopy streaming services. Simply sign in to relax and take a break with the world’s best cinema.
You can also unwind in the creative oasis of our beautiful galleries or take a few minutes out in the Pause Spaces in any of the libraries and try a few wellbeing and mindfulness activities.
Those key resources again:
• revision, exams and essay support
• Spacefinder
• group study booking
• revision and exam webpages
• Study Skills featured collection
• in-person academic support
• Writing Space.
Good luck. If you need any help, we’re here for you.
