Get ready for Valentine's Day

Join us for a journey through the timeless love story of Cupid and Psyche at Tuesday Treasure.

On Tuesday 12 February, our monthly drop-in event at the Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery will be taking a Valentine's journey into the story of Cupid and Psyche, the lovers at the centre of the second-century Latin novel Metamorphoses.

Share your lunch break with the beautiful princess Psyche as she faces trials and tribulations involving jealous sisters, a husband of mysterious identity, and an epic-style journey to the Underworld.

Explore the various illustrated interpretations of the classic romance on display from Special Collections. Boccaccio’s Christian allegorical rendering, sensuous Art Deco illustrations and William Morris’ beautiful woodcuts are among the material available to view.

Will the princess unite with her true love? Find out by dropping in to see us on Tuesday.

The event is free and you can visit any time between 12.00 and 2.00pm.

Material in this month’s Tuesday Treasure were selected by Dr Regine May, Associate Professor in Latin Language & Literature at University of Leeds.
