In the early stages of my research I was still forming ideas and unsure how to focus my work. Using material from Special Collections, alongside resources from other parts of the library, supplemented the other texts I had read and helped me to formulate my question.
The two primary pieces of material I looked at were Margaret Cavendish’s Poems and Fancies , and Robert Hooke’s Micrographia. Although the material was reference only, I was able to spend several hours one afternoon with the texts and study both in detail.
I have also been able to return to Special Collections and look at the material again to check details. I found that this reinvigorated my enthusiasm for the topic and my research.
