Brotherton South Bank Archive Fellowship opportunity

Now open for applications: an early-career research fellowship working with the South Bank Show Archive.

Special Collections, working in collaboration with The Leeds Arts and Humanities Research Institute (LAHRI), will host a fellowship for a postdoctoral researcher to make use of the unique South Bank Show production archive.

This a chance for an early-career researcher to exploit the boundless potential of the significant archive, while also developing the fellow’s research career.

The South Bank Show Production Archive was transferred to the University of Leeds in 2015. Comprising approximately 9,000 audio-visual items spanning 33 years, the archive includes material recorded for around 760 episodes and specials, including unseen rushes and unedited interviews.

Featuring prominent cultural figures such as Ken Russell, Harold Pinter, Carol Ann Duffy, Yoko Ono and more, the archive features materials recorded for the ITV show between 1978 and 2010. The South Bank Show continues to air on Sky Arts and is presented by Lord Melvyn Bragg, former Chancellor of the University of Leeds.
