This edition of Frankenstein; or the Modern Prometheus signed by Mary Shelley, is part of the Novello Cowden Clarke Collection. The collection was given to Leeds University Library in 1953 by descendants of the Novello Cowden Clarke family. It is a large collection of books, manuscripts, letters and associated material documents the life of a well-known family of musicians, writers, artists, singers, actors, and were popular within literary and artistic circles in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
