This 1941 recipe book from the Rotherham Food Advisory Bureau gives suggested menus & recipes for different meals and celebrations over the Christmas period.

The menus shown here show more familiar Christmas dishes (Christmas Cake, Mince Pies, Brussels Sprouts) and others which have been adapted to take into account the realities of life during the Second World War, such as the ' War-time Mock Goose' listed in the "Off the ration" suggestions for the weekend and the New Year'.

A recipe for mock goose is given later in the book, consisting of stewed rabbit, sausage meat, oatmeal & mashed potato shaped to look like a goose.
