Standards

A standard sets out the requirements for the properties, dimensions, performance, qualities, and testing of products and services.

You can find British and international standards in the Library.

British Standards

The Library subscribes to British Standards Online. This contains thousands of current, historical, and draft standards that are available for online view and download.

You can search by standard number or keywords. From the results page, you can filter your results to “show only results in my subscription”.

ISO, EN and Eurocode Standards

If you need an ISO (International Organization for Standardization) or EN (European) Standard, you may be able to use an equivalent British Standard instead.

On the British Standards Online search page, type the ISO or EN number with the prefix ISO or EN in front.

To find a Eurocode standard, search for the Eurocode you need eg "Eurocode 4", and you will see all the parts of BS EN 1994, which are identical to the Eurocode.

ASTM Standards

The Library also maintains a full set of ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards in print format. The most recent set is for 2013.

Print volumes of the Annual Book of ASTM Standards are located in the Edward Boyle Library on level 8.

You will need the standard numbers and volume number. You can find this information by searching the ASTM Standards online.

IEEE Standards

All current IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) standards are available online through IEEE Xplore.

You can request standards that the Library doesn't hold through our Document Supply service.
