Previous events

On Saturday 15 September 2018 we held our free event Food for Thought…Dialect Discovery Day at the University of Leeds. This event was in partnership with Heritage Open Days.

In July and August 2018, we took our "Museum of Lost Words" activities across the country. The Dialect Roadshow visited:

  • Ryedale Folk Museum, North Yorkshire (29 July)
  • Weald and Downland Museum, West Sussex (11 August)
  • Dales Countryside Museum, North Yorkshire (17 August)
  • Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, Worcestershire (21 August)
  • Museum of East Anglian Life, Suffolk (24 August)

We attended Being Human 2021, the UK’s only national festival of the humanities, in partnership with the Museum of East Anglian Life on Saturday 20 November. The event included talks, displays and activities, as well as the opportunity to contribute to dialect research and delve into the Leeds Archive of Vernacular Culture collection.

Since the start of 2022 we have attended a number of events, including (but not limited to) the Food Stories Touring Exhibition in East Anglia, a number of Yorkshire Libraries as part of Local History Month, regional shows in Sussex and Midlands and Be Curious 2022 at the University of Leeds.
