Brotherton Library
The Brotherton Library (located in the Parkinson Building) contains the research collections for languages and the arts. The Brotherton Research Centre, including some of the UK's outstanding rare books and manuscripts, is based within the library. Read about disabled access.
Edward Boyle Library
The Edward Boyle Library contains the research collections for science, engineering and social sciences, and the level 13 Research Hub for staff and postgraduates. There are spaces for individual silent study and bookable group spaces and accessible student studies. Read about disabled access.
Health Sciences Library
The Health Sciences Library is on level 7 of the Worsley Building, close to the School of Medicine and Leeds General Infirmary. It contains the Library’s main medical and health-related collections. Read about disabled access.
Laidlaw Library
The Laidlaw Library is the library dedicated to undergraduates. It contains Core Texts and the High Demand Collection, and the Skills Zone, home to the Skills@Library service. There are bookable study spaces for individual silent study and accessible student studies. Read about disabled access.
St James's University Hospital Library
Based on level 3 of the Clinical Sciences building, St James’s University Hospital Library supports the information needs of University research and teaching staff, medical and healthcare students, and employees of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. Read about disabled access.
Galleries
Leeds University Library Galleries display art in The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery and artefacts in the Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery, from our Special Collections. Both galleries are in the Parkinson Building and are open to the public. Entrance is free. Read about disabled access.

30 minutes before closing time, floors 1 and 2 of the Brotherton Main Building close.

The Wolfson Room closes 15 minutes before the library closes.
Weekend and evening access
Access after 6pm and at weekends is through the Level 7 entrance only. Go via the sustainable garden and along the walkway beside the Garstang Building. Scan your ID card to enter or press the intercom button for library help. There is no access to the Library from Clarendon Wing or Clarendon Way.

The Galleries are open Tuesday–Saturday: 10am to 5pm.
Please note: The exhibition '[uz], [uz], [uz]: Artists from Working-Class Backgrounds' in The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery is closed until further notice. The rest of the Gallery and the Treasures of the Brotherton are open as usual. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Cultural Collections Research Centre
The Brotherton Research Centre is open for researchers and students to work with our Cultural Collections. It is on level 4 of the Brotherton Library, on the upper floor of the main reading room. See how to plan and book your visit.

Edward Boyle Library study space
There are silent study areas on every level except level 9 (ground floor) and levels 11 and 12 are completely for individual silent study. Level 8 is an online learning space where you can attend online lectures and talk wearing headphones. There are group study areas on level 9 and 10. Level 13 is for postgraduates and research staff, and has a mix of silent and group spaces.

There is a bookable Online Meeting Room for undergraduates on level 9. This is specifically for taking online interviews. You can book this space for a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of two hours. You can only book one session a day.

Library Makerspace
The Library Makerspace on level 9 of the Edward Boyle Library has a wide range of equipment, IT and software for creative projects of all kinds. It is open to all students and staff, for personal, individual or group projects. Come along to create physical or digital objects, attend an event or workshop, and get technical help and advice in a supportive community space. Make your creative ideas a reality in the Library Makerspace!
Research Hub
The Research Hub is a dedicated space for researchers and postgraduates on level 13 of the Edward Boyle Library. Book individual studies and group meeting rooms, or find a quiet place to work at one of the large desks. Other facilities include: research noticeboards and display screens to publicise research events and calls for participants; poster presentation areas to share current research.
There are also a small number of lockers available to postgraduate students and staff. They are suitable for small bags. Materials cannot be left in them overnight.

The main room of the Health Sciences Library is dedicated to silent study, with the exception of two small group study rooms (the two group study rooms are temporarily closed due to the Library refurbishment) and the Wolfson group study room. The majority of the group study spaces are in the large room to the left of the main entrance, which also includes individual desks and separated pods.

The St James’s University Hospital Library is silent study.

There is a MyPrint device in the photocopying room which is connected to the university computers. You can print, copy and scan.
Both NHS and University staff and students can use the MyPrint device. Buy printer credits in advance from the MyPrint portal.
However, if you are using an NHS computer, it will be connected to an NHS networked secure printer in the library. It prints black and white only and print costs are charged to your departmental account.
