Attention researchers! Win the chance to publish a monograph

New prize launched offers a chance to publish a book based on doctoral research.

University of Leeds Libraries and White Rose University Press are thrilled to announce the launch of the second iteration of the Leeds Early Career Publishing Prize (ECPP).

Launching 25 February 2025, the ECPP celebrates doctoral research and supports authors to publish an open access monograph.

The Leeds ECPP is a fantastic initiative, encouraging researchers at the start of their careers to share their work as an open access book. The prize recognises the author’s ability to present their research for publication, and prize winners are supported through the WRUP commissioning process and will see their book considered for publication.

The prize is open to University of Leeds doctoral graduates since January 2022 and before the submission deadline of 30 September. To win the prize, applicants must submit a proposal explaining how they would turn their research into a book.

Prize winners will each receive a £250 cash prize and the opportunity to develop their work into an open access book, working with our University press White Rose University Press. If the book is commissioned, authors will be supported through the peer review process and all book processing charges and open access fees will be paid.

Dr Andrea White, one of the winners of the first ECPP, recently celebrated the publishing of her monograph Understanding Mental Causation demonstrating the tangible success of opportunity offered by the prize.
