Titled Apologia por la noble nacion de los Iudios y hijos de Israel’ (Roth Collection 723), this is the Spanish translation of an English work, It was printed in London by John Field in 1649.
Nothing is known about the author, Edward Nicholas. He was once thought to be the English statesman Sir Edward Nicholas (1593-1669). Some authorities think that the name is a pseudonym that perhaps disguises Menasseh ben Israel himself, because he lists the Apology amongst his own works in the appendix to the Vindiciae Judeorum.
