Statistics and data sources

The Library has the major statistical publications of the United Nations, OECD, IMF and World Bank.

You may also find the following sources useful or want to view the information for health:

• CESSDA Integrated Data Catalogue: Council of European Social Science Data Archives allows searching of ten countries' data archives, either as a whole or by selection.
• Eurostat (Statistical Office of the European Communities): statistical data from the National Statistical Institutes of each of the Member States of the European Union. Provides online statistical journals and statistics on the EU, the USA, Japan and Central Europe.
• Eurostat yearbook: selection of statistical data on the European Union, its Member States and candidate countries. Areas covered include population, education, health, living conditions and welfare, the labour market, the economy, international trade, industry and services, science and technology, the environment, agriculture, energy, forestry and fisheries, and the European regions.
• The Joint External Debt Hub (JEDH): external debt data and selected foreign assets from international creditor/market and national debtor sources (developed by the Bank for International Settlements, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the World Bank).
• Data on the Net: search or browse a collection of over 300 internet sites of numeric social-science statistical data, data catalogues, data libraries and social science gateways.
• SEDAC (Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center): international catalogue of information for locating environmental and socioeconomic data, examining a link between Earth and Social Sciences.
• BLDS (British Library for Development Studies) Catalogue: records of over 130,000 documents held by the library including journal articles often from developing countries not indexed in any other service.
• Bretton Woods Project: the project works to monitor and reform the World Bank and IMF. It was set up to facilitate the work of UK NGOs concerned about the social and environmental impacts of World Bank and IMF financing in developing countries. The site looks at current issues, producing a newsletter and a broad list of World Bank and IMF briefings.
