Special Collections teaching support

Our diverse collections of rare and unique printed books and manuscripts can support teaching within the University.

We can support online teaching by digitising material. We also deliver online resources to support archival research skills and digital literacy.

We want to offer students opportunities to engage with the collections. We encourage students to become independent researchers, using collections for their research projects and to inspire postgraduate study.

Our buildings are closed at the moment, so we can't offer our usual teaching or group study sessions in the Special Collections Research Centre.

Online resources

Our research spotlights provide enhanced access to digitised images of manuscripts held in Special Collections.

These resources include in depth interpretation and narration to aid teaching and increase research skills.

Digitisation for teaching

You can request that we digitise Special Collections material to use in teaching at the University of Leeds. Contact us to find out more.

Research skills support

We have a series of archival research skills resources to support student engagement with Special Collections. These can be worked through independently or integrated into teaching.

We are keen to support academic tutors who want to encourage students to access Special Collections. Please contact us to find out how we can support your teaching in this area.
