Document supply service

A book on loan from the British Library

The service can be used to obtain books, journals, conference papers, reports and theses which are not available at Leeds University Library.

Depending on the type of document you request, you will receive either a photocopy of the required pages, which you can keep, or an interlibrary loan of the whole work. Some requests, especially items from overseas, are supplied for reference use only and cannot be taken out of the Library.

The service is restricted to items needed for your research or teaching. It cannot be used to obtain material for personal or leisure use.

Always check Search@Library (making sure you select the "Library Catalogue" filter) before submitting a request. We will not process requests for items from our own stock. Refunds cannot be given for items which are requested and subsequently found to be in stock. If an item you need is out on loan, use the requesting service to recall it.

Who can use the service

  • Current staff and students of the University of Leeds
  • Retired staff still working for the University
  • NHS staff employed by Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust who are registered with the Library.

Everyone else should ask at their teaching institution or local public library about document supply and inter-library loan arrangements.
